I'll be home for Christmas ....

The anticipation of coming home makes my tummy start to churn. It’s a strange feeling but there is just so much to do. First, I would like to visit my favourite food places to chomp down all the things I miss after moving my ass into Singapore. Tung shin Char Siew Kampung Baru Fish ball noodle Setapak Bak Kut Teh Champ’s Damn Syiok Hokkien Mee Sg. Wang Coca-cola chicken Café café Fong Lye in Hartamas Kampachi (Yum! Yum!) Small list and I’m already hungry. I just cannot imagine after New Year, I’ll be so bloated I probably start tipping over. And catching up with friends would be a key idea in this one week long trip. Yippie! I’ll be home for Christmas …. Ya ya ya

Pee Sss Pee

The ultimate and number ONE gadget all around the world. Now, you get first hand experience from someone who own and happily using this product - Sony PSP. Okay, a quick rundown on what they can do - game console, mp3 player, video player, DVD player (UMD size), internet surfing and picture viewer. Such are the versatility of this little device. Let's start with what it can do as a game console. The most beautiful part of the PSP is the game is so smooth and yet the graphics are equivalent if not better than the big brother. It's so much fun to be able to play whenever and wherever while still has so much raw power - unlike the Game & Watch Nintendo Donkey Kong which we played when we're 8 years old. Though that, I enjoyed those days of portable game & watch that I will have endless hours of fun. Then the console was changed into something better ... I was then using tapes "bload" onto TV screen with console we call Sinclair Spectrum. My favourite game was Ghostbusters. After a while, the gaming ventured into arcade-style until Sega Megadrive came. Of course, there were Nintendo who continually work on their console but wasn't that hot with older group.Since Sega Saturn, I've stopped until Sony Playstation was launched. That was one of the coolest machine I've owned until Sony Playstation 2 came. My love was still for it until I won my Microsoft Xbox in Hong Kong. That created an euphoria of gaming for me and nothing seems to beat it until I met my PSP. No doubt something better is going to come along but for now I reckon the PSP is the wonder of the world ...

The Sweet Dynasty

In Hong Kong, sweet stuffs is an important after meal dessert. It's so critical that it spawns endless restaurants with strong focus on sweets. Out of hundreds, there's one that stands out. It has Japanese tourists flocking in on an hourly basis, locals getting in for a late night supper and the typical me looking for good food. Actually, every single time I visit Hong Kong, I will not fail to visit Sweet Dynasty in Hong Kong. Located conveniently in Canton Road, Kowloon, its distinct oriental design can easily be missed because of many others who are located near to it. One of the few desserts that are really good - Almond soup (its so nice!) and Tofu Pudding made with mountain stream water and produced originally within wooden buckets. I'm not discounting anything else because everything here taste good. Favourites that you would need to order are Stir-fry beef noodle, Yong Chow Fried Rice and a whole list of congee. This is considered a MUST-TRY place in Hong Kong. Bear in mind the crowd so do go early if you don't want to stand in a long queue.

Eating TAI CHAP HAI (hairy crab)

In Hong Kong, during their Autumn season, there are some real delicacy that you should try if you visit this little quaint bustling island. One of which is tai chap hai or in English, hairy crab. Though the crab is fairly small, you’ll be surprised that it normally take a person 45 – 60 minutes to finish one. There’s actually an art to eating it. In all instances, they will provide you a little chopstick like device to dig and poke the meat out of the crab. That’s definitely the challenge for newbies in eating hairy crabs. You have to eat all the legs too because there are good meat in there. On why hairy crab is such sought after is because of its CREAMY roe. When I scooped spoonful of roe into my mouth, you can sense yourself eating creamy ice-cream. Of course, my heart was majorly clotting as well ! It’s that sinful but yet irresistible. The crab normally comes from Yangcheng Lake - a famous crab-breeding area situated to the northeast of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Currently, lots of restaurants are importing it from China and you’ll be delighted to know it’s available in Singapore and Malaysia.
